EIAWARD 2015: International Photography Award 2015

International Photography Award

Completing twenty-five editions, a moment that represents an undeniable mature age, requires celebration and to give acquaintance of the work undertaken so far. In this festive edition, the Festival starts with the EI AWARD launch, which was conceived to celebrate the XXV edition of this Festival. This is a unique opportunity for artists from all over the world, as we seek to highlight photographic projects of talent, and at the same time, gather international experts in the fields of photography.

Therefore, one of the major missions of the Festival consists in generating opportunities for the inclusion of young authors alongside with others, with an already consolidated career, which has been contributing to a richer exchange of ideas and simultaneously to create a promoting platform for the younger authors. Accordingly, Encontros da Imagem is proud to promote the organization of the VI Edition of the Portfolio Critical Review, guided by national and international experts that have been contributing to form an increased audience in the various territories which contemporary photography embraces. Through this action we aim to encourage the production and dissemination of the national and international photography, and festively celebrate the presentation of the contemporary photography Award in the magnificent Theatro de Circo’s hall, on the 26th of September, action promoted by Theatro de Circo, who celebrates its centennial anniversary, and by Câmara Municipal de Braga.

The award is assigned through the Portfolio Critical Review, which gives the photographers an opportunity to present their work to commissaries, gallery owners and specialized publishers, being a preferential medium to promote their work. The Award consists of an individual exhibition in the Festival Encontros da Imagem 2016 and a publication in the Zine Collection das Edition Bessard, thanks to the support of Pierre Bessard.

This action represents a great moment for the festival, which involves more than five hundred people in its organization. From the applications stage to the award ceremony, going through the crucial review of the selected projects, it represents an excellent form of visibility and reflection around national and international projects.

It should be noted the great variety of reviewers, who come from the diverse sides and territories of Photography.
