“Angola War 1967 – 1987”
ANGOLA WAR is a documentary of photographs taken between 1967 and 1987 by Cloete Breytenbach a South African press photographer who was allowed to follow Jonas Savimbi and UNITA and the SADF on a number of occasions during the conflict. He was the only South African press photographer who was allowed to be that close to the action on the front. Even though these photographs were taken from one side of the war (UNITA and the SADF), they are an important documentary of this historic war that affected the lives of thousands in Angola, Portugal, South Africa and Cuba. These photographs have never been exhibited before. Cloete is now in his 80’s and still living in South Africa. He will be present at the exhibition.
