I’ve always had an interest in these documentary filmmakers from colonial Brazil. Rugendas, Pallière, and specially Debret. For some years I was also called a documentary filmmaker. This interest deepened when I saw the photobook from André Coiffure called “French mission”. A provocative book that questions the mission he wanted to implement in Colonial Brazil, a formal arts education model. Read, seen and reviewed Debret. I found out that many of its scenes were painted separately and then assembled. I had the idea to create a large panoramic, gathering 23 watercolors by Debret, to be seen in papyrus or in large format. I have special interest in the support in which the photos will be displayed and besides the use of Papyrus, I developed another format: the Moebius photo sculpture, which merges the circularity of a panoramic.
