As part of the 33rd edition of Encontros da Imagem - International Photography and Visual Arts festival, the Open Call - Photobook Award EI 2023, is a competition with a diverse jury, made up of editors, publishers and other professionals from different areas of the publishing sector, which aims to highlight and reward the best photography books of the year. Aware that the photography book has been gaining, in recent years, a primary role in the promotion of narratives and photographic projects, through creative processes of storytelling but also of construction and subsequent experimentation, it is the intention of Encontros da Imagem to promote independent authors, as well as their body of work. Since 2014, the festival has sought to be a privileged channel for the dissemination and promotion of the photobook through its award and exhibition, resulting from the Photobook Award.
