Orixe (Origin)

«Orixe» (Origin) is a project that highlights the problem of male violence through intimate and family history. Glorianna Ximendaz uses photography as a tool to challenge social norms, break down oppressive structures, foster healing and empowerment, and celebrate the strength and resilience of women.

Through photos of her ancestors, from her great-great-grandmother to herself, Glorianna addresses issues such as patriarchal power, the privileges inherent in normative and class-based masculinity, the concealment and transmission of violence in the family and society, the penalties imposed on women who challenge the patriarchal order, oppressive beauty standards, obstetric violence and forced sexuality.
