Strangers in the Light
September 23rd to 31st October
This photographic series is an exploration of the intricate relationship between man and technology in the many fields of life. It refers to the new postures of the connected contemporary figures absorbed by the white digital light, and how mobile phones have created a new approach to quick, light mobile photography creating its own aesthetic and affecting our visual culture. The photos of the series are lit exclusively with the light of devices, amplifying the feeling of a 21st century chiaroscuro. This technological glow creates an aesthetic suggesting connections to classical paintings and old masters. It investigates a reflection on the historic disruption that has been imposed by the invention of devices. It questions the ability of ubiquity that technology offers opening to a new space time in a compressed reality somewhere between past, present and future and where speed has become the priority, changing the approach to time and memory. “Strangers in The Light” is a series of 70 photos that has been published as a book by Steidl in 2013.
